Yooperlite

Yooperlite is a geological marvel first discovered in 2017 along the shores of Lake Superior in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. While it may appear as a standard, mottled gray river rock in natural light, it hides a spectacular secret. Yooperlite is actually a Syenite rock rich with fluorescent Sodalite. When exposed to long-wave ultraviolet light (specifically 365nm), the sodalite inclusions erupt in a brilliant, fiery orange glow, resembling burning embers or molten lava trapped in stone.

This incredible "glow-in-the-dark" property has made Yooperlite an overnight sensation in the gemstone industry. It is a stone defined by surprise, transforming from a rugged, earthy neutral to a vibrant, electric masterpiece with the flick of a UV torch.
