Rhodochrosite is one of the most recognizable and coveted gemstones in the world, famous for its distinct raspberry-pink to rose-red hues. Its name is derived from the Greek words rhodon (rose) and chros (color). While it can occur as rare, transparent crystals, it is most famous in its "stalactitic" form, which, when sliced, reveals mesmerizing concentric bands of cream, light pink, and deep rose.

Primarily sourced from Argentina and the Colorado Rockies, this manganese carbonate mineral is often referred to as the "Inca Rose" because ancient legends claim the stone is the solidified blood of ancestral kings and queens.
