Kunzite

Kunzite is the best-known variety of the mineral Spodumene, celebrated for its delicate, feminine palette ranging from pale pink to intense violet-purple. It is a "twilight stone," famous for its extreme pleochroism, meaning it can appear pale pink, deep violet, or even colorless depending on which angle you view it from. One of its most magical properties is phosphorescence: if exposed to strong sunlight and then moved to a dark room, a high-quality Kunzite can actually "glow" for a few moments as it releases the absorbed energy.

With a Mohs hardness of 6.5 to 7, Kunzite is durable enough for jewelry, but it possesses perfect cleavage in two directions. This means it is a "connoisseur's stone"—it requires an expert cutter and a protective setting (like a bezel) to prevent it from splitting if struck. Because its color can fade if exposed to prolonged, direct sunlight, it is traditionally known as an "Evening Gem." It is a premier choice for:
